    use a 12 volt circulation pump inline. I think they are about 10 dollars for cpvc transfer but you need one that can withstand at least 300-400 degrees due to the stove being too hot melting the plastic. But, if you put a 150 degree blow off valve then that is all you need but i still would circulate it with a pump.

    • @portercreek
      @portercreek 7 днів тому

      I tried adding a circ pump but I did not find it to make a difference. Modifying the side panel of the stove so I can fit a 3/4 inch pipe would probably give me much more heating capacity.

    Good video. Cluttered installation tho. Detail to design and layout is also important. Having ANYTHING on the floor or in front of the breaker panel is dangerous and not code compliant. Just because something works does not make it correct.

    Be aware that the winch you have on there looks to be about 8000lbs. These will pull 285A at full load. Your 100AH battery also has a corresponding 100A BMS. It will shut off the battery if you exceed that 100A current limit. I'd reconsider. You'll be stuck someplace needing that winch for a big load and it won't work. At least test it out first with a big load. I use a 100AH LiFePO4 battery on my 2500lb winch but wouldn't go much bigger.

    • @portercreek

    did you ever have your system so that you were installing an additional battery into an existing system. You said that it take a couple of cycles for the app to see the total battery load. I installed my second battery today and I am at 99% but I am still feeding load into the battery and it has been at 99% for awhile so it makes sense that it take some time for the firmware to figure it out. I also use to discharge the first battery down to 15% and it would then pull power from the grid and take it back to 18%. Makes me think the battery did not like being at 15% so I have now changed that discharge SOC number to 20% and will see how it goes. Thanks for your videos, most time its better to hear someone else's experience. the SS techs mean well but there are a lot of new ones and just are still reading the talking points unfortunately

    • @portercreek
      @portercreek 13 днів тому

    • @thatretiredguy8907
      @thatretiredguy8907 12 днів тому

      @@portercreek are those 2 different setups in the maintenance menu? I set the 20% at these inputs "Start AC Charge SOC(%)" 20% "On-Grid Cut-Off SOC(%)" 20% after installing the second battery I changed the discharge cutoff to 20%. It still added 3% so I ended the morning at 23%. it did that when my cutoff was 15% too. Do your batteries float back up after cutoff 3%? it does it in 2 steps of about an hour each. SS did not know what that was and thought the battery was adding power when discharged to 15% because it was too low but is seems to be part of the algorithm. This morning I still show 280ah which is one battery on my phone app but I did discharge the capacity of 2 batteries after the initial installation so it is working, just the apps do not reflect 2 batteries.

    great video for a DIY guy! added this question to a previous video. As you added batteries is there any requirement to balance the SOC for each battery before you integrate them into the system? is setting the dip switches for the 2nd and 3rd battery the only thing you have to do before you power up the existing 18k with the first battery? Also can you do a video showing why you needed 3 inverters with only 4 batteries. I know you can do 3 batteries for each inverter but 3 inverters for 4 batteries seems excessive so I am sure you have a use case. Again nice videos for a DIY guy, installing the batteries on the wall by myself is the biggest challenge. I also did not use any ferrules so I now ordered the crimper and ferrules as that seems better. Any advantage to soldering the ferrules on instead of crimping. Did you crimp the battery cable ferrules only once or do you crimp each one twice?

    • @portercreek
      @portercreek 13 днів тому

      I did 3 inverters because the main purpose of this build was to sell back to the grid. The only reason I did batteries was for security. I started out with 3 and found that a 4th one would be advantageous. Batteries are expensive so I don’t want more than I need. Technically, you probably don’t have to crimp the big cables because when you tighten the screw down in it will crimp it

  • @thatretiredguy8907
    @thatretiredguy8907 13 днів тому

    just got my second battery and was watching your video again to make sure I installed it correctly. Since both batteries will not be at the same SOC is there anything I have to do before turning everything back on or will the 18k and BMS take care of it? Second battery has the second dip switch down and the rest up, correct. Looks like you used PVC conduit, did you punch out the large knockouts? I tried to punch out the smaller on inside the large one but the large one came out and I believe they are 2 1/4" holes. What hardware did you use, looks like it some kind of PVC on the outside and EMT on the inside. The local big box stores only go up to 2" so I guess this requires a trip to the real electrical supply or amazon. Thanks for your video it has been very helpful for a one person install, these babies are heavy beasts for an old dude

    • @portercreek
      @portercreek 13 днів тому

      The bms and the inverter will communicate to level out the charge. It is recommended on all new batteries to charge it up 100% and run it all the way down to 20% and then back up again to a full charge. This will help calibrate the bms. I used 2” conduit for everything. The male threaded ends for the conduit fit perfectly in the knock outs. It was sourced from my local Menards and home depot.

    • @thatretiredguy8907
      @thatretiredguy8907 13 днів тому

      @@portercreek SS said try to balance both within 0.5v between the 2 batteries before you turn everything on so I charged battery 1 till I was close and so far so good my only issue is, I can't get into the setup screen for battery 2 to set it for LUX. We have troubleshot it but no solution. They said that as long as its charging its OK for now but we can't see the total AH of the system, still looks like one battery not 2. I will try HD or lowes and see if I can get some PVC conduit. I would like to use liquidtite but it is hard to buy just 2 feet of it. I am hoping that this does not require returning the battery as I know that will be a really hard thing to do

    great tips thank you! I am wishing to place my freeze dryer in a space on the floor under a counter. With that the top of the FDer has no room above the machine to vent. There IS room on both sides so fans can be placed there to keep air circulating. There is also room on the floor beside the FD'er to place the pump and a defrost drain hose/container. Can you tell me if the 4" clothes dryer hose going outside helps keep the vacuum pump cooler? as the pump runs pretty hot just sitting beside the FD'er out in the open. I am interested what you or your viewers think about this as i am trying to use space efficiently. thanks again! @brucemattes5015 (I see your comments below)

    • @portercreek
      @portercreek 14 днів тому

      The 4" clothes dryer hose is for any oil vapor that comes off the pump and also to vent the smells, from the foods that are being freeze dried, to the outside of the house. The cooling that it would provide would be negligible. The cooling of the unit is(when looking at the front of it) sucking air in from the middle lower left side of the machine and exhausts it on the lower middle right side of the machine. The freeze dryers have a pretty weak fan for keeping them cool, I moulding put it in a small enclosed space like that unless you had a pretty good ventilation system in that cubby. I would put a vent in the cabinet on the lower left side that blows air in and then a vent on the upper right side(if space allows) for the heat to escape. If you can't put a vent on the right side, you could do one on the access door too.

    • @richardallan5460

    • @portercreek
      @portercreek 19 днів тому

      They are necessary. If you don’t use them you won’t get a solid connection on all the strands which can cause them to heat up and melt down the connection. The ferrules essentially make stranded wire into basically a solid strand wire.

      @@portercreek used your link for the ferrule crimper and ferrules, probably a good idea sine my battery conductors did not all squeeze into the mechanical lug and its just a good practice to reduce thermal issues due to a crappy connection...and they were reasonably priced!

    Just put the wood stove where you spend time; that's what they do. Most heat in a cellar goes out through the foundation into dirt ( unless the cellar is used by people. ) Simple!

    Put a pump on that 50 gal. barrel and pump it into a dumpster or an enclosed dump trailer. My son has this exact planer, and yes it creates lots of sawdust. He has a large Oniada dust collector for his shop, but only a 30 gal trash can for collecting the dust. When the dust collector is turned on the pump comes on also. They never have to manually empty the trash can. It goes directly into a covered dump trailer with high sides.

    How do you cut those applesauce squares so precisely like that after they've been dried? Dont they just crumble?

      We use a metal spatula to cut it and then scrape it off the pan.

    I just received my fan that you recommended and I'm so disappointed that it doesn't fit the medium Harvest Right, not even close. At least not the latest model. Also the front piece of this fan is part of the entire outside structure so there's no way to remove that either, hoping it might make a difference. Sad :( It was such a great idea to speed things up.

      Bummer the cage doesn’t come up. What I have been doing lately is just propping it up in the front and leaving the door open without the heating elements on.

      The sooner you think about and start planning for retirement the sooner one can retire. Retirement is not that far off for us. But my idea of retirement is not a traditional view, retirement to me is not having to worry about needing to earn money to pay my bills. I will still stay as active as my body will allow.

    When using the hub to get 240 volts these units aren't even designed to charge from AC just DC. And all front panel 120 volt recepticals are disabled leaving just the two on the hub available. Plus the 240 volt, 7200W receptical.

  • @pstoneking3418
    @pstoneking3418 Місяць тому

    When using the double hub to get 240 volts from your 2 Delta Pros, all front panel recepticals are disabled and you can only charge from DC with the hub connected. Regardless of what configuration you want to use your 2 Delta Pros, they can't be charged from 240 volt AC when the hub is connected. When using the hub, you're configured the 2 Delta Pros as 240 volts split phase. One Delta Pro is outputting one 120 volt phase at 3600 watts, and the other is outputting the other 120 volt phase 180 degrees out of phase to create your 240 volts. Here's a video showing that it's not even possible to charge with any AC when using the hub. Unless you use an AC to DC Voltage converter and charge with DC. ua-cam.com/video/1Z9W4GH7xBM/v-deo.html&si=SA1Eo6epWZBIBNT0

    Once it started to smoke, it needed to be removed from your system and sent back for a replacement. Anytime any electronic equipment emits smoke, damage has occurred in the device. Even if it still seems to function, it's still damaged to some extent and requires repair or replacement.
